Bria AI Receives Two HPA Awards Recognizing Ethical Innovation and Transformative Impact on the Entertainment Industry

Written by Bria.ai | Feb 26, 2026 2:16:12 AM

Today, Bria AI announced it has received two Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) Awards, recognizing the company's contributions to both the business and craft of entertainment production. The first award honors Bria's work in Pre-Production, specifically its approach to licensing and rights management in generative AI workflows. The second, the HPA Award for Transformative Impact, recognizes Bria's patented generative AI attribution technology - a system that establishes provenance and ensures creator compensation across every form of generative AI output: image, moving picture, music, and text.

Together, these awards reflect a singular focus: building AI that the entertainment industry can own, trust, and benefit from.

Recognition honors a new model for generative AI — one built to protect creators, respect IP, and strengthen the creative ecosystem that has defined Hollywood for over a century.

"This award recognizes the product or technology with the most potential to transform the professional media content industry ecosystem — breakout potential that points to a new standard for how we create, capture, finish, or deliver content. The kind of innovation that removes friction,  unlocks new creative options, and scales across teams — not as a demo, but as something the industry can actually build on. That is why we are proud to present the HPA Transformative Impact Award to Bria AI."

— Leon Silverman, Former President, Hollywood Professional Association

The Threat Is No Longer Theoretical

The entertainment industry is facing a challenge that is unprecedented in both scale and speed. A new generation of AI model builders — well-capitalized, moving fast, and operating largely outside the norms and relationships that define Hollywood — are training powerful generative models on decades of film, television, music, and written content created by the studios, guilds, and creative community. The financial value being extracted from that creative heritage is substantial and growing. The compensation flowing back to the industry that produced it is effectively zero. And unlike previous disruptions, this one does not require distribution deals, licensing agreements, or any relationship with Hollywood at all. The data has already been taken. The models are already in the market. And they are becoming more capable every month.

Litigation and legislation are necessary responses, and the industry is right to pursue them. But they are slow, jurisdiction-dependent, and reactive by design. They cannot move at the speed of the threat. What the industry needs now is the ability to act — collectively, decisively, and on its own terms.

"The entertainment industry created the most valuable creative library in human history. Right now, that library is being used to build AI systems that will compete directly with the people who built it — and the industry sees none of the return. Litigation is necessary but it is not a strategy. The only real answer is for Hollywood to build its own capability, on its own terms, before that window closes."

An Industry-Owned Model, Built by Hollywood for Hollywood

Bria is responding to this moment by moving into a new phase of direct collaboration with major Hollywood studios and the leading organizations and standards bodies that represent the industry's collective interests — including the MPA and Movie Labs. The goal is not to sell studios another vendor's AI product. It is to help the industry build and own its own model: a joint generative AI system trained on the combined strength of Hollywood's content libraries, governed by the studios and member organizations that contribute to it, and built from the ground up with full data transparency, documented provenance, and Bria's patented attribution engine ensuring every rights holder is identified, credited, and compensated as the model is used and its commercial value grows.

This is not a defensive posture. It is an offensive one. The creative heritage of Hollywood — its stories, its visual language, its 116 years of accumulated craft — represents an extraordinary and largely unmobilized asset in the AI economy. Bria's platform exists to help the industry leverage that asset collectively and on its own terms, with Bria serving as the technical partner enabling that ownership rather than extracting value from it.

"What we are building with our studio and industry partners is not another AI product for Hollywood to evaluate and procure. It is a mechanism for the industry to own its own future in AI. Bria brings the technology, the attribution infrastructure, and the research expertise. The studios and member organizations bring the creative heritage and the governance. Together, that is something no outside model builder can replicate."

Built on Ethics, Not Just Compliance

What makes this initiative possible is the foundation Bria has built over the past several years. While much of the industry conversation around generative AI has centered on legal defensibility, Bria was founded on a more demanding premise: that legal compliance is a floor, not a ceiling. The artists, craftspeople, directors, composers, writers, and storytellers whose work has defined Hollywood are not simply data sources — they are the foundation on which all valuable IP is built. Bria's commitment to that principle is reflected in a platform built exclusively on 100% licensed content, full IP and privacy indemnification for customers, and an attribution engine that extends across images, moving picture, music, and text.

"We built Bria around a simple belief: that the people whose work makes AI possible deserve consent, attribution, and compensation — not because the law requires it, but because it is the right foundation to build on. Legal compliance is a floor. We have never been interested in just clearing the floor."
